By admin, July 4, 2018

Description: A large pop-up book, performance, video projection and sound.
Dimensions: 400cm x 150cm x 150cm
Duration: ca 40 mins

A theatrical piece, using video projections and a giant pop up book. Two black clad helpers flipped the pages of the book. Each page had a pop up system that was illuminated with video projection and told the story of a character named The Lizzard. Lizards are a common household creature in Rio de Janeiro and are not kept in high regards. This story tells about a lizard that was a pet in Iceland and was washed with a big wave into the ocean, that brought it all the way to Rio de Janeiro. The lizard describes his life, how he lost his tail and his struggles in life. The This piece was made for and presented at Oi Futuro Center, in Rio de Janeiro Brazil.

A Way To Pleasure | 2015

Description: Plaster, animation, video projection and sound
Dimensions: 60cm x 40cm x 9cm

An object in an irregular semi organic shape, made out of plaster is hung on the wall. All kinds of patterns and objects are projected onto the object making it look like a character. Egill: “It’s a teenager. His parents wanted him to be an artwork, but he doesn’t want to obey. The moment nobody’s looking he stops posing like an artwork and starts doing what he wants. Nevertheless, he dreams about becoming an art piece when he grows up, as we can see in the brushes and the colour splashes appearing towards the end of the video loop”. This is a typical piece by Egill Sæbjörnsson where the artwork is personified, made into a living entity with a personality of it’s own, in contrast to being the “creation of the artist”.

Modern TV | 2015

Description: Plaster, animation, video projection and sound
Dimensions: 50cm x 40cm x 8cm

An organic object in a TV shaped format, made out of plaster, is hung on the wall like a flat screen. The surface changes as a video animation is projected onto it. The work is a combination of a real object with irregular surface, unlike real TV’s and thus the object is neither a TV or just an object, it’s a hybrid, a some sort of an augmented reality sculpture. Cars and windows appearing now and then suggest different use of the same object giving it attributions of a living planet, a bit like the home of Le Petit Prince. Each work is a living entity, a world of its own.
